Geoffrey Cornish

Amherst resident, is a widely known golf course architect; has designed approximately 250 golf courses worldwide, including six (Chicopee CC, Crestview CC, Edgewood GC, Hickory Ridge CC, Shaker Farms CC and Veterans GC) in Western Massachusetts; has also helped redesign eight in the region; native of Canada; began in business during Great Depression, under architect Stanley Thompson; began own work in 1952; taught at UMass and at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design; active in consulting role with Mungeam Cornish Golf Design in Uxbridge; member of Canadian Golf Hall of Fame was married to late wife Carol for more than 50 years.
