Western Massachusetts Golf Hall of Fame

The Western Mass Golf Hall of Fame was founded in 2007 to honor contributors and characters of this great game from our historic region.

The roots of Western Mass Golf date back to the 1800s with the founding of clubs such as Amherst College Golf Club, Belchertown Golf Club, Country Club of Springfield, Hampden County Golf Club, Mt. Tom Golf Club, Pittsfield Country Club, Stockbridge Golf Club, Tekoa Golf Club, and Wyantenuck Golf Club. Many more clubs came along right after the turn of the century and hosted many of the games great events and players.

Bobby Jones and Francis Ouimet both played and stayed at some of our historic venues. Countless clubs and balls from the Spalding Company in Chicopee were tested on our layouts.

Events like the June Invitational and The Little Brown Jug have withstood the changes in our game and are still exceptional competitions, even today. USGA Major Championships have been held in our neighborhood and countess MGA Championships have been contested inside our boundaries.

Welcome to the history of the greatest game in Western Massachusetts.
