Leicester native and Westfield resident left his legacy as superintendent at Springfield Country Club for 30 years; began at the private West Springfield club in 1980, helping with construction of five new holes during mid-80’s; spent 50 years in the business after graduating from UMass/Stockbridge with landscape architecture degree; worked as superintendent and helped with hole construction at four other courses; first superintendent job was at former Jug End Resort in South Egremont; worked briefly at opening of new Western Mass. courses Hickory Ridge CC and Cold Spring CC; active with Western Mass. Superintendents Association; married to Ellen for 44 years, with son Phil (superintendent at Farmington Woods GC) and daughter Cynthia.
